Mombasa Cement Ltd. (MCL) was founded in 2007 to serve the East African Community as one of the top quality cement manufacturers. The firm installed its mother plant at Vipingo, Kilifi County, alongside a grinding plant at Athi River, Machakos County.
In 2019, MCL expanded clinker capacity to 2.6M tonnes and added a cement grinding line at Vipingo. Today, with 5.6M tonnes annual capacity, MCL is the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly cement producer in East Africa.

Founded in Vipingo
MCL is established with a 1.0M tonne clinker plant at Vipingo, Kilifi County to serve the East African Community.
Athi River Plant
A 2.0M tonne cement grinding plant opens outside Nairobi at Machakos County, expanding regional reach.
Capacity Expansion
Clinker capacity expanded to 2.6M tonnes and a new grinding line added at Vipingo.
